The merger between the Travel Trust Association and Worldchoice has been finalised. The combined group "representing the largest number of independend travel agents in the UK" will operate at TTA Worldchoice Limited. Worldchoice shareholders will recieve a return of 275p per share this week, with more than £4 million being paid out in total.
This comes after the boards of TTA and Worldchoice announced that a Scheme of Arrangement to acquire the shares of Worldchoice shareholders has been finalised and a court order forwarded to the regsistrar of companies at Companies House. Simon Hargreaves, managing director of the TTA group of companies, said "It is quite a long time since we started out on this route but it was certainly a journey worth taking. In today's economic climate, travel companies need all the strenght they can find, and by joining together, the members of both TTA and Worldchoice should feel more confidnet about the future."
TTA Worldchoice chairman Colin Heale said: "I believe that the merger will be hugely beneficial for both TTA and Worldchoice members. Not only becuase they will belong to the largest group of independent travel agents within the British Isles, but also because of the synergies which bringing the companies together will deliver for our members."

NEW APPOINTMENT AT HW CORPORATE FINANCE

Jacquie Leake has been appointed as corporate finance manager at the Leeds office of HW Corporate Finance.
Jacquie, from Bingley, will be responsible for working with and supporting HW’s corporate finance partner Miles Stanyard to develop the company’s growing portfolio of clients. She has expertise in all aspects of corporate finance, particularly in business and financial planning and fund raising.
Her previous role was as a business adviser at Business Link York and North Yorkshire, where she had specific responsibility for assisting businesses to become investment ready and fund raising, prior to which she was client service manager for the insolvency and business recovery division of PWC.
Miles Stanyard said “We are delighted to welcome Jacquie on board our growing corporate finance team. I am sure she will prove to be a great asset as we bid to expand our portfolio, as well as continuing to offer a top-class service to existing clients.”
